Directions
Take the hiking bus to Spullersee Lake from the hike starting point at the post office (please observe the toll fee). Get off at the last stop and follow the supply road around the lake. After a few turns, a hiking path branches off to the right here. Follow the path uphill until you reach the (1) Schützhütte hut.Continue uphill across mountain pastures. The path continues, with a number of hair pins, up the (2) Gehrengrat ridge (2,439 m). Descend on the other side on a very steep path with hairpins through tough terrain to the (3) Geology hike ”Sea of Stones”.Follow the trail going straight ahead without significant changes in altitude through the Karst region to the (4) Freiburger hut (1,918 m). After resting and taking a bite to eat, take the supply road around the lake to the bus stop. Experienced hikers can take the track above the eastern shore going slightly downhill back to the bus stop.

Special features: This area is home to Europe's largest ibex colony. With a little luck, you will come across these majestic animals.
Sights: Sea of Stones – fossils up to 200 million years old can be found on the high plateau.
Refreshment stops: Freiburger Hütte, Gasthof Älpele, restaurants in Lech am Arlberg and Zug.

This alpine high-altitude trail is only recommended for experienced hikers. You must be sure-footed and free from vertigo!

Public transport
By train to Langen am Arlberg station or St. Anton am Arlberg. From there, buses (No. 750+760) run regularly to Lech Zürs am Arlberg.
